Warm Water Wax

We aren’t getting any cold weather anytime soon.  There won’t be any cold fronts dipping the water temperatures down in the near future.  It’s time to remove that yucky winter wax and put on a fresh coat of warm water wax, so that when we get waves you can leave your board in your car for 5 minutes without all the wax completely melting off.  The water temperatures have neared 90 degrees already. Warm water wax can be rated for around 77-86 degree water, but those numbers vary by brand and by type.  Get out that paint scraper, hair drier, and those paper towels, and put a fresh coat of summer time wax on your surfboard.

Scrape that gross wax off the board with the paint scraper. Then blow dry the wax spots that didn’t come off with the scraper, and wipe it clean with a paper towel.

This is what a nice clean board will look like.

Now wax on the summer wax.  Use pressure to apply the wax.  Apply evenly and in circles for best results.  Wax the board until small bumps form.  Then you should be ready for warm water.
