Honeymoon Island State Park

Honeymoon Island State Park is a fun spot to surf.  It’s closest to many Northern Pinellas county surfers.  There are two main spots that have historically been surfed.  We have the north parking lot and the cafe.

The northern stretch of beach is changing a lot.  3 new Jetties have been added and it’s is looking like they will create some super fun waves.  I’m anxious to see how this spot will perform on larger swells with these new jetties.  This is usually the wintertime break for Honeymoon Island.  It’s good on northwest and west swells.

The other general stretch of beach that get’s surfed is in front of Cafe Honeymoon.  This is a super shallow sandbar.  This shallow sandbar creates a wave that gradually breaks.  The wave is super long and super fun.  It is rivaled only by Venice jetty for high quality longboard waves.  This is the summer break for Honeymoon Island.
