The Pass

This is a fun little wave.  This is one of the more dangerous waves in our area because of the strong water flow through the pass during large tidal swings. It is mostly a longboard wave.   On days when the sand is completely exposed and when the swell is large the waves can get super hollow and perfect.  It breaks hollow very-very infrequently, if ever anymore.   It has changed more to a smaller wave ever since the three new jetties were added to the pass, but still has the potential to be hollow on the right tide and swell.  A building is being erected in place of the hotel parking lot, so getting to this wave will soon be much more difficult.  The three new jetties are starting to break with a consistent wave shape, but very small.  Over time the three jetties may become fun little waves.  Only time will tell.  For now the pass is mostly a longboard wave.  I caution you, be wary of this wave.  Strong full and new moon phases can create a strong outward current and could pull you a short distance out to sea.  It has been changing rapidly in comparison to other waves nearby.
A fun wave has formed in the cove between the last jetty and the bridge. Skimboarders are particilarly fond of this portion of the pass because it is a fantastic skim spot.
