Hurricane Arthur

Gorkin was smashing, thrashing, and gashing waves this whole swell.  The NSB local was showing what it looks like to know a wave inside and out.   He worked the wedging walls, surfed right through the flat sections, continuously faded back deep into the power source, and unleashed balance and  strength into the sweet spots of the medium size swell from this storm.

There were also numerous people surfing who were learning how to get into waves.  Learning to surf are some of the most exciting times in the water.  Looking over the ledge and trying to decide, Should I go?  Will I make it?  Could I hurt myself? , questions that are circling through your mind as you begin to learn what waves are right for surfing.  Taking off and getting pitched, dropping in only to find yourself at the bottom of a closeout bowl, or paddling and taking off late only to bounce down the whitewash to fall at the bottom.  Learning how to catch waves is an exciting time for a surfer.
