Regional Surf Forecast: Friday Cold Front

This will be your last chance to surf before 2017.  A strong cold front moves through west Florida late in the evening or overnight on Thursday. There will be a few showers ahead of the front.  After the front dry and breezy conditions will appear.

Surf Forecast:

West Florida:
The surf comes up on Friday.  We are looking at northwest swell on Friday.  The winds will be northwest in the morning, switching north in the afternoon.  The swell looks waist to chest high, possibly bigger.

Panhandle:

The winds and swell are headed away from the coast in front and behind this cold front.  The strong offshore winds keep the surf flat behind this front.

Texas:

Texas will have decent surf from this cold front.  The swell will be a mix of sideshore/onshore. The wave periods go up to 8-10 seconds in Corpus Christi. The winds are offshore on Friday.

East Florida:

Small, long period clean swell lingers for the next couple days.  Large, onshore swell fills in on Friday with a cleanup following.  Wednesday, and Thursday is about waist high.  Friday the swell gets well overhead high, although the chop will prevent quality rides at most spots. Saturday, cleanup swell remains.
