The surf was kinda crappy today. Many of the waves weren’t lining up like they could have been.  It wasn’t very big and super wonky.  It was breaking like it was still south swell leftover from yesterday(though it wasn’t).  South swells usually cause the waves to close out, and many of the waves were closing out today.

A Gorkin sled found it’s way to west Florida.

Many of the best waves were caught sporadically throughout the day.  Mini “rogue waves” would dredge in random locations along the sandbar.  As mid day rolled around the swell peaked.    Around 1pm the swell was at it’s highest wave heights and longest periods, but after that the swell gradually decreased.  The tide changing back to an incoming helped at first.  And although we cannot prevent the inevitable drop in swell, we can score super fun waves even with dropping wave heights.

As the day warmed many people who had never surfed this spot before gave it a go.  A friendly local named Lisa was trying out a short board an acquaintance had loaned her.  She had also planned to give her boyfriend lessons.  She was introduced to the sport by her father in Ocean City, Maryland.  Also, it was fun to watch an adorable young girl, pushed on a boogie board by her father, make her way out into the waters.  It was generally a bright and sunny day with fun waves, perfect for being out in the brine, getting a salt bath.
