The Rancid Smell of Death at Sand Key

The red tide is really bad at Sand Key, horrible in fact. The sensations from the toxin were inescapable. Caughing, runny nose, burning eyes (really bad), and feelings of puking kept session length far too short. Surfing came at a price far too high on this day. And what’s worse was that just 15 minutes down the road Honeymoon Island had even better surf with no drift and completely nonexistent red tide. It was a lot like surfing Indiatlantic vs the Cocoa Pier this week on the east side of the state. Were in a very interesting red tide situation where the boundary between an area thick with red tide and an area without any are so close together and so well defined. LRG_DSC04234
