Surfing with Dolphins at Honeymoon Island

This evening at the end of February while catching waves after a little cold front came through the area, we witnessed some unusually breathtaking sights. The glassy surf was nice, and unusual, but the things that made this session epic were the combination of dolphins swimming nearly within touching distance, a sunset lighting the clouds with a full palate of colors, and the light from the setting sun combining with the mist in the sky to create a rainbow. It was one of the best days of the winter.

Cold Front: Surf Forecast (revised)

Over the next week the gulf and east coast will be getting surf.  We’ll start with east Florida and Texas coming up this weekend.  The gradient then relaxes mid week.  Then, next weekend a decent cold front sweeps through the gulf.  It looks like it will be another chest high and bigger wave maker.  More details on the next front later in the week. January Cold Front

The day reached wave-heights of 13 feet at 11 seconds. It was a solid swell, our biggest of the season so far. We’ll have to watch how things go over the next couple months. The frequency of cold fronts could increase with the late start to the season.
