This is just a quick clip of the Osprey that sits perched atop the post just outside the entrance to Honeymoon Island State Park. After having recently caught a mullet by diving from high altitudes, then crashing into the water to grab and scoop the unsuspecting fish, it starts its meal by taking a moment to collect itself, a moment to unruffle the feathers, and shake off the water. The osprey has just caught a medium sized mullet from the waterway just adjacent to the park entrance. Mullet are a common meal for the hungry osprey because mullet are so abundant, and because they are a species of fish that spend a lot of their life on the surface of the water. Mullet are a great, easy, and filling meal for these beautiful birds.

Beach Snook
This fishing trip was a snook fishing trip. We started our trip around 3pm, after the daily temperatures had peaked, and the day began to start cooling back down. We planned our trip around where Travis and I thought the snook would be. Just two weeks ago the snook were stacked up inside the coves during the spring high tides, but we were anticipating the fish thick on the beaches and in the passes. Continue reading Beach Snook
AMI Waves
West swell filtered into the sandbars of just about every beach along the gulf coast. The winds a mere 5 mph remained slack throughout the day. The swell periods exceeded 10 seconds for much of the swell. The swell was firing Tuesday evening, and Wednesday morning. Continue reading AMI Waves
