The End of Summer Skimboarding Contest

Overhead surf shop is doing it again. They are hosting their End of Summer skimboarding contest. This fun filled competitive event will bring together the gulf coast’s best up and coming competitive skimboarders at the 130th public beach access on Maderia Beach. The divisions will include beginning, intermediate, and advanced. The contest starts at 8:30 in the morning. There will be a ceremony after the contest with food, music, and a live trophy painting. Don’t miss out on what’s sure to be an exciting event.

A Storm is Coming

A tropical disturbance with zero percent chance of becoming a organized system is expected to move toward the eastern part of Florida and ride up along the coast. Locally, we’re only expecting a slight increase in rain chances as this big ball of moisture gets closer. I suppose it’s possible that it takes a track through the gulf. Far more likely the course will take its currently forecast track. The chances for surf on the gulf side are slim to none, although we should see a good swell begin to fill in on the east coast as early as Friday with light onshore winds. The strong winds look to stay centered over the right side of the low while it stays just offshore. It looks like Friday, Saturday, and Sunday should be storm surf over there with the surf fading beyond Sunday as the storm drifts away. Saturday looks like the day to go. If anyone wants to make a trip we could have a big carpool. I did that once with the USF surf club which was pretty fun. Maybe we can coordinate something if enough people are interested.

Jumpin Puddles For Cheap Shit

Surfboards can be made of a lot of differeng materials. Everything a surfboard is made of is created from scratch a chemical makeup that varies from one board to the next. From the foam used, to the foam hard coat, to the plastic fins and fin plugs, its all just a bunch of chemically concocted materials.

Again, I’m seeing a wonderful example of getting screwed by the man. Why is one of the most well known and most expensive surfboards one the market such a piece of trash?

This surfboard is almost brand new. It has pressure dings from light use, and a small crack up near the nose which of course I fixed right away with epoxy. Only a short time after purchasing it it’s now starting to change color into a yucky yellow down near the tail on one side. The issue is on the side with the puddle jumper wording. It’s sort of hard to see, because it’s disguised by the grey coloring they added to the tail. There aren’t any damage issues in the area that could be causing this. It’s purely a manufacturers defect.

Lost really needs to work on getting better leadership. It’s really not a well made board.
