North Pinellas Fishing Report: Friday, June 10th

Tarpon fishing is at its peak.  Tarpon are super thick.  Tarpon can be caught using heavy fishing line.  80lb mono or 60 lb floro will get the job done if you get em in the corner of the mouth with a big sharp circle hook.  The north ends of Honeymoon, 3-rooker, and Anclote hold fish during this time of year.  Fish can also be caught on the insides of the islands along the salt and pepper looking grass flats.  Those are the flats that look like a salt and pepper shaker, flats with sandy patches and grassy patches.  Look for the big fish moving south if your sight casting them.  Keep the sun at your back so as not to spook them.  They also ambush prey along the edge of the Clearwater mitigation reef during low tides.  You can also catch them in the back corner of the sand key bridge pilings, or at the end of the Sand Key Jetty. On a good day you could hook up with quite a few, but landing them is the trick.  Now is the time to attempt to catch a fish of a lifetime.
