Longboarding Anna Maria

The November 22nd cold front pushed through overnight.  It arrived to our area early in the morning on Sunday. Behind the wake of north northwest and northwest winds northeast winds followed, eventually turning east, leaving glassy waist high lines filling in up and down the coast. Windy surfing days along the gulf coast are punctuated by the smaller glassy cleanup days of surf that follow the northwest winds. This morning the skies were blue and the waters green, the waves were lining up, and of course the AMI longboarders were on it.

This sneaker cleanup day was a surprise to many surfers, but the stoke of a thigh high perfect swell couldn’t be contained. And while Anna Maria Island is not typically known for its longboard surfing, the waves there can be super fun for longboarding. The secret spots in AMI were working early this glassy morning of surfing.
