Gulf Coast Surf Forecast: Two More Surf Producing Cold Fronts within the Next Week.

Well, it’s the end of April.  We’re seeing record high temperatures, and a surprisingly high frequency of cold fronts.  Something seems out of wack, but hey, I’ll take it.  It’s very unusual to be seeing this frequency of fronts this late in the surfing season.  The surf forecast is looking great for the upcoming week.

On Monday, as a cold front crosses the gulf west winds and west swell follow.  This front will be best on Monday. Then, on Friday, approximately one week away front today, a much stronger cold front is forecast to blast across the gulf with potentially 25 knot winds, and overhead high surf.  After the front has passed on Saturday morning the winds will be much milder, and I’m expecting we’ll still have a fun little wave like the day after the last cold front, possibly better.  There may be a slight cool down, but the temperatures are forecast to be very warm all week.  The ultraviolet light index is extreme right now, so don’t forget to wear sunscreen.  Surf in the mornings or evenings if you can.  Those big spring tidal swings could have a significant impact on the surf, so check your tides.  I’m stoked on more warm weather for gulf coast surfing.  See you out there.
