Surf’s Up Surf Report: 2pm on Saturday, 07/21/18

Way smaller surf today. There’s a light onshore breeze. Even the kids are having to ride the bigger boards to catch waves. The tide is on the low end of the low tides, and will start to come in around 3:30. If you’re just waking up like I should be right now if a big roar of a big truck down the street didn’t wake me up, I’d say wait for the evening if at all, maaybe even skip it until tomorrow.

A little squall just rolled in with hail-like rain pelting the windows on the car. It seems to be clearing at the moment. And in the process of typing this on the phone it just completely stopped. Surf is expected to continue through the evening, and through the weekend. A light rain may also linger for a while. Stepping outside now at 2:26pm the squall has cleared, and another may be following closely behind.  The surf is really fun! Probably still worth it!

Surprise Swell June 2018, 11:30am & 3:30pm

Snook were stacked up on the beach today. With the clearer than usual water the fishies were happy campers, able to see and breathe. On many rides they were seen cruising around. It was a mid-ougoing tide and the fish were sitting stacked up on the small rockpiles situated in between the two jetties. They were corralled into the pockets of rock sitting on the sandy spots. Others were along the inside edge of the sand bar. Most of them were way undersize, somewhere between a foot and a foot and a half long 12-18 inches. It would have been a great day to catch a bunch of way undersize snook.
